Gourmet Garage

THE CHALLENGE

Gourmet Garage was founded in 1981 (originally as Flying Foods) as a wholesaler distributing fresh seafood, game, organic and specialty fruits and vegetables to the chefs of fine restaurants nationwide. In 1992 they opened their Soho warehouse to the public and before long Gourmet Garage was born. With six stores in Manhattan, Gourmet Garage lets you SHOP LIKE A CHEF®.

With the recent proliferation of high-end gourmet food stores however, Gourmet Garage felt compelled to update their look in order to compete. They came to Studio K&M for a complete evaluation of their branding.

HOW WE DID IT

Studio K&M did an extensive audit of all existing labels, including their function and production. The analysis revealed substantial inconsistencies in the brand such as different fonts, colors, and label designs.

In order to provide familiarity to the existing brand, Studio K&M strengthened the current logo with the addition of select new graphic elements as a basis for the redesign. Using the current color theme, we incorporated a bold and distinct font to reflect the vitality of the store and engaged a copywriter to add playful lines to the labels.

THE RESULTS

The new identity has allowed Gourmet Garage to display a cohesiveness throughout their six stores and the new brand recognition has resulted in a doubling of their sales.
